Another busy weekend

I think I am finally getting caught up with the yard work before it gets too cold outside.  I'm just waiting for all the leaves on the trees to fall so we can start making some big piles for the kids to jump in.  They do still like to do this!  My one other job outside is to get the skimmer for the pond lower in the ground.  Over the years it was slowly moved upward from the freezing temperatures during the winter.  I have started digging  around the skimmer and will hopefully be finished this weekend.  Hoping for one last good weather weekend!

Jack spent most of his time at the B&B with the grandparents and Ellie was playing with friends at home.  I did visit the B&B to drop off Ellie and go to dinner at Aurelio's.  Before leaving for dinner we did get to add some leaves to the bonfire to get things burning just a little better and play catch with a tennis ball since we didn't have our football.  Need to remember the football on the next visit.

Busy, Busy, Busy

The last two weekends have been a busy time for the whole family.

Two weekend ago, Tammy and the kids stayed at the B&B house for the weekend to start cleaning and I stayed home to tend to the work around the house to get ready for fall.  This last weekend, Tammy and the kids traveled to Camp MacLean in Burlington, WI for a 'work weekend'.  I again stayed home to finish most of the work around the house before the cold weather is here and working outside is not so enjoyable.

The B&B house is coming along nicely with all the work being done there.  Cleaning the house has been a majority of the work and our house is getting close to being ready for the fall and winter.

Busy weekend

Jack and I were able to get a bike ride in between the rain showers on Saturday. We went several miles and stayed between 103rd and 111th and on both sides of Rt 59. As we were heading back home, we passed the Dairy Queen on 111th and we stopped for small cones, Jack had vanilla and I had chocolate.

Ellie had a birthday party later on Saturday. Tammy dropped her off and we all went to pick Ellie up and proceed to the Supper Club event at Camilia's. The theme this time was Southern Cooking. We all had a good time, the food was good and the game time was fun for all.

On Sunday we were meeting Tom Jr., Brooke, Tina, Keith and Cameron at Tangerine in downtown Naperville. After parking we realized that the restaurant was no longer open for business. We decided to go to Butterfield's on Ogden Avenue and were able to get a table right away. It was great to chat with everyone. After we were finished eating, the kids and I took Tom Jr. to the airport. The kids still love seeing the planes! Tammy went to visit with her parents to discuss the new house and Brooke, Tina, Keith and Cameron headed back to Morton.

Weekend adventures

It seems that the whole family was not available for our bike ride this past weekend with Ellie staying overnight at Grandma and Grandpa's and Tammy not feeling like a bike ride.

So Jack and I were on our own and rode several miles for our trip.  We started by riding to Riverview Farm Forest Preserve and then south along Book Road down to just north of 127th Street.  At 119th Street we noticed a lot of activity at the polo field.  There was quite a crowd and the County Sheriff was at the intersection.  They were nice enough to stop traffic for us when we were heading south and then again when we came back north to the forest preserve.  We stopped along the DuPage River to throw a few rocks and branches into the water.  There was a family walking down to the river while we were there and while Jack was watching the kids fish, I was sitting at one of the picnic tables.  I looked over to see if Jack was ready to continue home and noticed he was casting one of the fishing poles.  He fished for a little while and then we were on our way home.

All in all, a great time was had by the both of us and we are looking forward to our next trip, hopefully with more of the family.

It's Friday!

The weekend is almost here and I'm hoping for good weather so we can go on a family bike ride.  We are planning to have a weekly family outing to keep us all connected together and to plan something that everyone will look forward to doing as a family.
